A 27-year-old Winter Garden woman was killed after her vehicle was involved in a head-on collision on State Road 429 last night.

The accident took place on Monday around 6:10 p.m. near mile marker 19 on SR 429. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2007 Pontiac northbound on the highway when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the center median.

The woman’s Pontiac then entered the southbound lanes and struck the front of a 2017 Ford van being driven by a 46-year-old Orlando man. The van was pulling a small trailer, according to the report.

A 2019 Ford SUV being driven by a 50-year-old Winter Garden man who was also traveling southbound was unable to avoid the collision and struck debris from the initial crash.

The van came to rest on its right side after the collision, while the sedan was redirected towards the median.

According to authorities, the woman was ejected from her vehicle and later died of her injuries at the Winter Garden Hospital.

The drivers of the van and SUV were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
