Over three dozen firefighters from Maitland, Winter Park, and Orange and Seminole Counties came together to subdue a fire raging at a school that has been abandoned for more than a decade.
On Saturday, June 11, just before noon, Maitland Fire Rescue Department units were dispatched to reports of a fire at the former location of Summit Charter School in Maitland. The building, which has been abandoned for more than a decade, was engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
Additional units from Winter Park Fire Rescue, Seminole County Fire Rescue, and Orange County Fire Rescue all responded to 3,290 square-foot structure, which had no occupants at the time of the fire.
Authorities say there were no injuries
