Fire at former location of Summit Charter School in Maitland
Crews from Maitland Fire Rescue Department, Winter Park, Seminole, and Orange County responded to a structure fire at the former location of Summit Charter School in Maitland on Saturday

Over three dozen firefighters from Maitland, Winter Park, and Orange and Seminole Counties came together to subdue a fire raging at a school that has been abandoned for more than a decade.

On Saturday, June 11, just before noon, Maitland Fire Rescue Department units were dispatched to reports of a fire at the former location of Summit Charter School in Maitland. The building, which has been abandoned for more than a decade, was engulfed in flames upon their arrival.

Additional units from Winter Park Fire Rescue, Seminole County Fire Rescue, and Orange County Fire Rescue all responded to 3,290 square-foot structure, which had no occupants at the time of the fire.
