Health officials have issued a blue-green algae warning for Lake Mann and Lake Sue.
The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued an alert for the presence of blue-green algal toxins in Lake Mann and Lake Sue, in response to a sample taken on Thursday, July 14.
Visitors to the lakes are advised to not drink, swim, wade, use personal watercraft, water ski or boat in waters where there is a visible bloom. Officials also caution pet and livestock owners to keep their animals away from waters.
Blue-green algae blooms can impact human health and ecosystems, including fish and other aquatic animals.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) collects and analyzes algal bloom samples. To report a bloom to FDEP, visit the organization’s bloom survey report webpage, or call the toll-free hotline at 855-305-3903.
