A Volusia County man spent a few hours behind bar and faces a theft charge after stealing and hiding hubcaps from a police cruiser last week.

Angel Rivera was arrested on Wedneseday, September 7, and is being charged with theft of law enforcement officer equipment after deciding to steal all four center caps hubcaps from a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle.

The vehicle was parked at the Orange City park and ride, according to authorities.

A witness who watched Rivera commit the crime was able to provide authorities with a tag number on his vehicle.

Rivera was contacted and admitted that he took the caps and hid them behind a tree nearby.

He was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Jail on September 7, just before 8 p.m. He was released a little over three hours later on bond.
