A pivotal trail that will connect the south of downtown Orlando to the Urban Trail and the future Downtown Loop was completed this month.
On September 1, city officials gathered to celebrate the christening of the South Downtown (SoDo) Urban Trail Extension. SoDo Neighborhood Improvement District and SoDo Main Street District representatives, along with Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, celebrated the completion of the new trail with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The SoDo Urban Trail extension runs along South Division Avenue from West Michigan Street to West Gore Street with a spur along Columbia Street that connects to the Orlando Amtrak Station.
The new extension will connect the south of downtown to the Urban Trail and the future Downtown Loop.
The trail features a collection of noticeable upgrades, including LED lighting, park benches, luminescent sidewalk pebbles, shaded trellises, native landscaping and shade trees, decorative crosswalks and informative trail markers.
