A 27-year-old Deltona man was arrested after police discovered at least 63 files of child pornography that he downloaded and distributed across the internet.
Shawn Asbury was arrested on Friday, October 7, and transported to the Volusia County Jail on a warrant after an eight-month investigation by local authorities.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began investigating Asbury in February after they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That tip suggested Asbury was in possession of pictures and videos portraying children in sexually explicit situations.
After their investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at Asbury’s home at 3181 Courtland Boulevard in Deltona. During their search, authorities recovered multiple photos and videos depicting female children performing sexually explicit acts.
The children ranged in estimated age from 4 to 11 years old, according to police.
Police recovered at least 63 files that Asbury downloaded and shared with other users across the Internet. None of the victims depicted in the photos and videos were local children, according to authorities.
Asbury is charged with 17 counts of possessing sexual performance of a child. He is being held at the Volusia County Jail on $500,000 bail.
