A Mexican restaurant in Celebration was forced to temporarily close its doors after an inspector cited multiple health code violations, including finding bugs in bins containing flour and chili.
Avocado Mexican Grill, which is located at 715 Bloom Street in Celebration, was forced to temporarily close on Thursday, October 13, after an inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited at least 14 health code violations.
Among the four high-priority violations was the presence of flying insects in the kitchen, food preparation, and food storage areas. The report indicates that the inspector found bugs in the chili and flour bins and issued stop sales for any products containing the ingredients.
The restaurant was permitted to reopen on October 14, despite 10 violations remaining.
In July, the business was forced to close twice over two days after roach and rodent activity was cited by the inspector. During those inspections, multiple live roaches and rodent droppings were discovered all around the kitchen.
