mary hollman altamonte springs fl obituary

Mary Ann Hollman of Winter Park, FL, died peacefully, after a short illness on October 18, 2022, at the age of 77. A remarkable mother and grandmother, she is much loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Mary Ann was born in Celina, Ohio on July 19, 1945. She lived most of her early life in St. Marys, Ohio, except for a four year period in the 1950’s when she and her family moved to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, because of her father’s job transfer.

She graduated from Memorial High School in St. Mary’s in 1963, attended Bowling Green State University and then later graduated from The Ohio State University. As a senior in high school, Mary Ann finished first in the State of Ohio in a state bookkeeping competition for high school students. Later, she put those skills to work for the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce and Kirkconnell, Lindsey, Snure and Yates P.A. law firm.

During her trip through life, Mary Ann lived in several places, including, Indianapolis IN, Wiesbaden Germany, Columbus OH, Miami FL, and twice in Orlando FL. Mary Ann loved to travel, particularly in Europe. She and her friend Ruth made several trips to Europe, visiting Germany where she had lived. Scotland, England, Ireland, France and Italy. She also loved to make scrapbooks of her travels which were detailed with pictures and descriptions of her adventures. She also made wonderful scrapbooks of family activities.

Mary Ann also found great enjoyment in reading and cooking. She was a wonderful cook who always found great joy in preparing dishes from scratch after she had foraged the grocery store to find the finest ingredients for her preparation. In a spare moment, she would start a puzzle, usually of the 1000 pieces variety. And she loved her Buckeyes, particularly the football team.

Mary Ann had a strong sense of family. Her true Joy was mothering, mentoring and providing for her son, Travis and her two granddaughters, Ava and Amanda. They brought a bright beaming smile to her face when she talked about them or helped them with some of life’s struggles. They were the love of her life. She also had a strong bond with her parents and her siblings, never missing a family holiday celebration or event.

Mary Ann was also generous with her time for others. For example when she lived in Miami she volunteered her time as a secretary to the Lutheran Mission Church, and she helped out regularly at the Redeemer Lutheran Food Pantry in Winter Park.
