Subtropical Storm Nicole is projected to make landfall with Florida on Wednesday night

Subtropical Storm Nicole is projected to make landfall in east and central Florida in the coming days, just five weeks after Hurricane Ian brought historic levels of flooding to the regions.

According to the National Hurricane Center update provided at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, a hurricane watch has been issued for the east coast of Florida, from the Volusia/Brevard county line to Hallendale Beach and for Lake Okeechobee.

Authorities say that the storm is currently moving toward the northwest near 9 mph and will approach the east coast of Florida by Wednesday night.

Currently, the storm has maximum sustained winds near 45 mph, with gradual strengthening expected during the next few days. The storm is expected to be at hurricane intensity by Wednesday or Wednesday night, while it is moving near or over the northwestern Bahamas.
