Tropical Storm Nicole is now 135 miles from the coast of Florida with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph.

According to the most recent update provided by the National Hurricane Center, as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the storm is currently 135 miles east of West Palm Beach. Multiple tropical storm, storm surge, and hurricane warnings and watches are in effect across the state of Florida.

The storm is currently moving west at approximately 13 mph, and is expected to turn west-northwest tonight. The center of the storm is currently moving near the Grand Bahama Island and will make landfall on the east coast of Florida tonight.

The NHC says that Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to strengthen into a hurricane before it reaches the east coast of Florida tonight.

Currently, it is classified as a large tropical storm, with winds extending outward up to 485 miles from the center, especially to the north of the center.

Additionally, officials have stressed the possibility of tornadoes across eastern Florida.

DeLand city officials have issued a curfew for all residents from 7 p.m. on Wednesday to 7 a.m. on Thursday.

During a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings indicated that no mandatory evacuations or curfews are planned.
