A 33-year-old man from Kissimmee was killed after his vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck in Osceola County early this morning.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place near the intersection of Osceola Polk Line Road and Sandy Ridge Drive at around 5:57 a.m. on Thursday, December 15.
The Kissimmee man was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry westbound on Osceola Polk Line Road, approaching Sandy Ridge Drive, when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle veered into the eastbound lane.
The front of the Camry struck the front of a 2023 semi-truck with a trailer that was being driven by a 73-year-old Riverview man.
The impact of the collision caused the semi-truck to jackknife and block the eastbound lane of Osceola Polk Line Road. As a result, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by a 64-year-old Lakeland man crashed into the trailer being pulled by the semi-truck.
The Kissimmee man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two drivers, as well as a 49-year-old Lakeland woman riding in the Silverado, were all uninjured in the crash and remained on scene.
As of 6 a.m., a roadblock was in place for both lanes on Osceola Polk Line Road.
