An accident involving a fire hydrant opened a sinkhole in downtown Orlando on Friday afternoon.
According to the Orlando Police Department, the accident took place on Friday, December 16, at the intersection of East Anderson Street and Boone Avenue, near the Orlando City Hall in downtown.
Downtown police units responded to the incident and, upon arrival, discovered that water from a fire hydrant had caused a sink hole in the eastbound lane of Anderson Street.
Workers were on the scene as of Friday afternoon, assessing the damage and beginning the process of fixing the roadway.
Officials say the scene will take approximately two days to fix.
