Orlando city officials will gather on Monday to celebrate the grand opening of a new, 2,200-foot-long boardwalk at the Orlando Wetlands Park.
On Monday, December 19, officials will gather at 10:30 a.m. at the park, which is located at 25155 Wheeler Road, in Christmas, to celebrate the newest amenity at the 1,650-acre park.
The boardwalk will take visitors on an elevated walkway over the water and provide easier access to the east side of the park. The boardwalk is close to the park’s cypress dome, which serves as a home to native birds.
The Orlando Wetlands Park is a man-made wetland designed to provide treatment for reclaimed water from Orlando and surrounding municipalities.
The park is open seven days a week, between sunrise and sunset, and features wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and guided tours.
