Orange County Fire Rescue crews saving riders stranded on The Wheel

Orange County Fire Rescue officials have released video footage of crews rescuing dozens of individuals who were stranded on a ride that lost power on International Drive this past weekend.

The new video shows crews working to save 62 riders who were stranded on The Wheel at ICON Park on Saturday, December 31 after the ride experienced a power failure.

The ride is currently closed for maintenance, according to ICON Park.

Crews responded to the attraction, which is located at 8401 International Drive, at around 9 p.m. after reports of a power failure and people being stranded on the ride.

It is the second ride closure at the park over the past year. In October, park officials announced the permanent closure of Orlando Freefall due to the death of 14-year-old Tyre Sampson, who was killed after he fell to his death from the top of the ride on March 24, 2022.
