A Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Kissimmee was forced to temporarily close its doors after an inspector found evidence of rats in the establishment.
Located at 7451 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, the restaurant was forced to close its doors on Tuesday, January 3, after an inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited at least a dozen health code violations.
Among the violations was the presence of rodent activity, as evidenced by rodent droppings found throughout the restaurant. Five rat droppings were found underneath a handsink, and another five were found in a storage room.
Additionally, a black/green mold-like substance was found on the interior of an ice machine, and food debris and soil residue were found on door handles in a reach-in freezer.
The restaurant was permitted to reopen the following day, January 4, after only six violations were cited.
