Deltona Middle School was put into lockdown on Wednesday morning after authorities received a threat to “shoot up” the school from a student.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the middle school, which is located at 250 Enterprise Road in Deltona, on Wednesday, January 25, after a threat to “shoot up” the school was called in.
Upon arrival, deputies canvassed the school buildings, classroom by classroom, and reportedly found nothing suspicious. Detectives remained on the scene to conduct interviews afterwards.
The school is no longer on lockdown.
The incident follows a school year that has been filled with similar incidents in Volusia County.
Weeks earlier, DeLand Police Department received rumors about a bomb threat at DeLand Middle School that it deemed were not credible.
Throughout September, multiple bomb and shooting threats were issued across Volusia, Seminole, Osceola, and Orange County schools. In multiple instances, those threats were deemed to be hoaxes.
