On the morning of Wednesday, January 25th, 2023, Jack McConnell died at the age of 88 in Orlando Florida. Jack was born to Palmer Bennett McConnell and Ione Estelle (Kreiss) McConnell in Appleton Wisconsin in 1934. He graduated from Neenah High School in 1952 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami of Ohio University. Jack served in the Army and was called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jack worked almost a half century as a highly successful marketing manager with IBM. Jack married Wanda Orman in 1969. In 1971, Jack and Wanda relocated from Charleston, West Virginia to Altamonte Springs, Florida, where they lived until his passing.
Like his parents, Jack was an avid tennis player and golfer. The family played golf for many years at Sable Point Country Club. He was also a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan occasionally donning a cheese head for the football games. He was a committed husband and loving father with a great sense of humor and a drive to succeed. He will be fondly remembered constantly snapping photographs as well as singing Elvis Pressley songs while driving around town.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Wanda, and three sons, John Jr (Wendy), Richard, Daniel (Marchelle), and six grandchildren Joe Jackson (Jen), Kyle, Allison, Evie, Jack, and Griffin McConnell. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Joan (McConnell) Carlson (Marv), nieces and a nephew.
