A security guard working at Orlando City Hall is facing a long road to recovery after he was violently attacked during an overnight shift last week.
On Monday, February 13, Keith Morgan was attacked while working the overnight shift at city hall, which is located at 400 S Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando.
According to authorities, around 2:40 a.m., two individuals approached Morgan, assaulted him, and fled the scene.
Morgan was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and was later released.
The two individuals were arrested by Orlando Police Department officers a short time after.
Morgan, who has served as the security officer for Orlando City Hall since 2016, sustained major injuries as a result of the attack.
Morgan is retired from the Navy, where he had served for over 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer.
A GoFundMe has been established to help Morgan in his recovery. According to the post, Morgan is “currently unable to return to work due to the injuries sustained.”
