A prominent Walgreens in downtown Orlando will close its doors in March.
Located at 190 S Orange Avenue, the drugstore will permanently close on March 30, 2023.
The location was built in 1925 and has housed multiple businesses in the years since. Walgreens moved into the building in 2016, according to property records.
With the closure, the nearest Walgreens locations to downtown Orlando are at 2420 E Colonial Drive and 408 E Michigan Street.
In 2019, the company announced the closure of 200 stores across the United States. In recent months, locations in Illinois, Missouri and Vermont have been closed or slated for closure.
The closure also follows a slate of other business closings that took place in downtown Orlando throughout 2022. Multiple bars including Barbarella, Latitudes, and Lizzy McCormack’s all closed their doors after decades in business.
In that same timeframe, multiple new businesses have opened their doors in downtown Orlando, including Stemma Craft Coffee, Pup’s Pub, and Huey Magoo’s, among multiple others.
