Robert L. Buck, 87, of Sanford, Florida (formerly of Auburndale, FL) passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, surrounded by his wife, children, and close family.

Captain Bob is survived by his wife Christina (née Bryne) of 64 years, daughter Lesley Veto (David), sons Graham Buck (Cindy), David Buck (Doreen), Brian Buck (Nancy), brother Brian Buck, sister Barbara Russ, ten loving grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Captain Bob, born 1936 in London, England, grew up in Wales during World War II. His early love of steam locomotives led him to a career in the British Railway. He married his Irish bride, Christina, in 1958, and in 1974 immigrated to America with his family of six.

At the age of 70, Captain Bob retired from his second career at Disney’s Yacht Club after 15 years of service. There he created a role where he engaged personally with children of Give Kids the World, escorted international brides down the aisle, and brought unprecedented joy to all with whom he interacted. He was infinitely unique in his ability to connect personally and inspire smiles and laughter with all.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, June 16 at VillageWalk Town Center, Lake Nona, 8524 Insular Lane, Orlando, FL 32827
