State officials are asking travelers who have used Interstate 4 in the past year and a half to share feedback through a new survey about the I-4 Express Lanes.
The Florida Department of Transportation announced the opening of I-4 Express back in February 2022. Since then, over 16 million trips have been recorded by motorists on the roadway.
Now, officials are asking motorists who frequently use I-4 to share their opinions about I-4 Express one year later.
Licensed drivers who drive on I-4 at least once every two weeks are invited to take the I-4 Express Public Opinion Survey. The brief, anonymous survey is designed to help FDOT better understand driver behaviors.
That includes how often drivers are using I-4 Express, the length of a typical commute along the highway, and how likely motorists might use I-4 Express were its benefits to be updated.
Visit the I-4 Express Customer Survey to submit your response. The survey should take about five minutes to complete, according to FDOT officials.
I-4 Express opened in 2022 with an introductory rate of 50 cents per tolling segment. At the time, traveling the entire length of I-4 Express cost $3.50 eastbound and $3.00 westbound during the introductory period. The new survey may help officials figure out the appropriate adjustment for toll rates based on traffic volumes in order to manage congestion.
I-4 Express extends from just west of Kirkman Road (State Road 435) in Orange County to just east of S.R. 434 in Seminole County and is separated from traffic by a concrete barrier wall with limited access points to support longer trips.
