A Lake Highland Prep student who spent over 100 hours constructing a Duck Tape prom dress is in need of votes from the community for a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship.
Ziqin Chiodi is among ten finalists in Duck Tape’s “Stuck at Prom” Scholarship Contest, which recognizes creative students for their inventive prom dresses and tuxedos.
“I hoped to combine my studies of herbalism, woodblock printing, and costume design to make an ethereal and modern piece,” reads a statement from Chiodi about her inspiration. “As I am a mix of my Asian roots and my American reality, this dress credits everything that makes me, as if my own costume.”
According to the company, Chiodi used over 18 rolls of Duck Tape in the creation of her dress and was selected as a finalist among dozens of entries.
As a finalist, Chiodi is guaranteed at least $500 if she finishes as a runner up. If she wins, Chiodi will receive a $10,000 grand prize.
To cast a vote in support of Chiodi, visit the Duck Tape Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest, click on Chiodi’s picture, and press the “Cast Final Vote” button. One vote may be cast every 24 hours, and all votes must be received by the end of the day on Wednesday, July 12.
