A local IHOP was shut down for a day last week after a health inspector found multiple code violations, including live roaches and flying insects.
The International House of Pancakes located at 647 E Colonial Drive was shut down on Tuesday, July 11, after a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited at least 14 code violations.
Among the three high priority violations cited was the presence of roaches, as evidenced by two live roaches found in the kitchen.
Additionally, the report notes that live, small, flying insects were seen all around the kitchen. The report further notes that raw beef was being improperly stored above ready-to-eat turkey.
The restaurant was reinspected the following day and was permitted to reopen after no violations remained.
