Law enforcement authorities have arrested a 31-year-old Sanford man who they believe fatally shot another man in an apartment stairwell.
Kadeem Omar Fisher was arrested on Wednesday, August 2, by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the homicide of 33-year-old Phillip Michael McCrimmon Martin.
Martin was found dead at the Vista Haven Apartments by SCSO deputies on Tuesday, November 22, after neighbors reported hearing gunshots just after 8 p.m. that evening.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered multiple shell casings and blood on a walkway. Blood was also found on the door of one of the apartments, where deputies forced entry and found the body of Martin.
Detectives say that Martin had been involved in an ongoing dispute with Fisher. On the evening of his death, Martin was in a stairwell when he was confronted by Fisher. Fisher allegedly chased him up the stairs and shot him multiple times in the back.
After he was shot, Martin was able to get himself into his apartment before he succumbed to his injuries.
Fisher is being held at the John E. Polk Correction Facility. He currently faces charges of first degree murder, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of hydrocodone.
