Arthur Ruest, 84 of Kissimmee passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born the son of Arthur F. Ruest and Regina “Jean” Cote Ruest. Rusty moved to Kissimmee, Florida 53 years ago from Beverly, Massachusetts.
He was a US Navy Veteran and a life-long Christian.
Rusty was a prolific storyteller, that never met a stranger. He fondly shared stories of his time working on several of the iconic rides at Walt Disney World. He went on to protect and serve the residence of Osceola County as a Deputy Sheriff, retiring after 28 years of service. He was an avid wood worker and always enjoyed tinkering, working with his hands, and building things for his children and grandchildren. One thing Rusty loved more than serving his community was his family. He cherished spending time with family and supporting his children and grandchildren in everything they did.
Rusty is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lois Barbeau Ruest; daughters: Michelle Ruest Overstreet of Kissimmee, Linda Sheldon of Massachusetts; brother: Robert “Bobby” Ruest of Massachusetts, sister: Judy Regan (Mike) of Massachusetts; beloved grandchildren: Savannah Overstreet and Gracie Overstreet, Kissimmee; Chad Ruest, Chris Ruest, Cody Ruest, and Jennifer Sheldon, Massachusetts; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Arthur and Jean Ruest, and son John Ruest.
Funeral services for Rusty will be held 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel, Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home with the Reverend Cathy Thacker, First United Methodist Church of St. Cloud, Officiating. Active casketbearers will be Osceola County Sheriff’s Department Honors Detail.
An interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee, with the full military honors accorded by The Osceola County Veterans Council. Visitation for friends will be 11:00 a.m.. to 12:00 Noon prior to service time.
