The Orlando Magic unveiled a new jersey design that pays homage to a previous era in honor of the team’s 35th anniversary.
The team unveiled its 2023-24 Classic Edition uniform this week, which is a replica that pays homage to the team’s “Heart and Hustle” era between 1998 and 2003.
Players will first wear the jerseys during the team’s opening game on Oct. 25 for the new season, which is the 35th for the Magic in the National Basketball Association.
“The jersey features the retro Magic wordmark across the chest, which immediately conjures up a feeling of nostalgia for longtime Magic fans,” reads a press release from the team.
The replica jersey prominently features the Magic star on both sides, as well as in the background.
“The old-school look is locked in with pinstripes and down each side,” reads the statement.
The team says it selected the era because it is the period “when the Magic came of age” by showing “who they were meant to be” through work ethic and grit.
“…A team that has always stood for hard work and determination, giving it everything they have every night,” says the team. “These traits have never faded over time, and they’re what makes Orlando a team fans are honored to cheer for. We celebrate the devotion of the fan with this year’s Classic uniform.”
The Magic will debut the jersey in a matchup against the Houston Rockets.
