A 22-year-old man who was riding his skateboard across a State Road 434 was killed after he was struck by a vehicle.
The fatal accident took place at around 9:06 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man, who was from Orlando, was crossing SR 434 from west to east within a marked crosswalk on a motorized skateboard.
At the same time, a 30-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla northbound on SR 434, approaching the intersection with Central Florida Boulevard.
The skateboarder crossed into the direct path of the Corolla and was struck by the vehicle.
Authorities say they have not yet determined what color the traffic light was at the time of the incident.
The 22-year-old man was transported to AdventHealth East Orlando, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver was not transported and remained at the scene.
