Roger Markland, 83, of Longwood passed away on September 14, 2023. He was born to the late William and Leola Markland in Clintwood, Virginia. He grew up in the Great Smoky Mountains and joined the Air Force beginning in 1963. During training, he met Virginia in Central Florida, where they were joyfully married in June of 1964. After his service ended, they made this area their home and had a daughter, Barbara, completing the family. Roger worked as an office machine engineer, enjoying many years of success and meeting several local celebrities.

He and Jinny were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary before she passed away in 2014. Roger was a beloved son, brother, husband, and father who spent his life serving others as an airman, technician, church member, steward of an endless array of pets, and caregiver. Always with worry stone and a white handkerchief in his pocket for emergencies, he never hesitated to offer his help and guidance to anyone in need.

Roger is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Didas of Longwood; his brother and sister-in-law Randy and Sandra Markland of Fort Worth; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Ann Hudson of Gainesville.

The funeral will be held at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Orlando, FL 32817 followed by interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando.

A funeral service for Roger will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817.

Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 Harrell Rd., Orlando, FL 32817.
