Two police officers from the Apopka Police Department helped deliver a mother’s baby boy after they responded to her home and found her in labor.
On Monday, October 30, Apopka Police Officer Adsudalah Brooks and recruit officer Laura Crespo responded to a 911 call in reference to a female in labor inside her home.
Upon arrival, officers found the mother in active labor. Brooks, who is a father, immediately took charge of the scene and positioned himself to help aid in the delivery of the baby boy.
According to APD, upon entering the world, the first words the baby heard was Brooks saying “welcome to this world!”
Police say the mother and infant are both doing fine at a local hospital.
“Congratulations to Officers Brooks and Crespo for a job well done,” reads a statement from the Apopka Police Department.
