Dozens of purebred cats will compete for top honors at a cat show this weekend in Sanford.
The Cat Show takes place on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sanford Civic Center, which is located at 401 E. Seminole Blvd., in Sanford.
Over 140 purebred cats will compete for top cat in four different judging rings each day. Breeds include Maine Coon Cats, Ragamuffins, Persians, Siamese, Devon Rex, Ragdolls, Bengals, and up to two dozen others. Visitors may watch cats on the judging table or walk around and visit with the cats between judging.
Cats and kittens will also compete for Best in Show in each of the four judging rings each day, including a cat costume contest on Saturday and a fancy cat dress-up contest on Sunday.
There will also be free cat coloring books for the first 100 children, daily shopping for cats, and people with vendors selling cat-related items.
The cost to attend the show is $15 per adult, $6 for children 12 and under, and $10 for senior citizens over 55.
