Two football powerhouses will square off at Camping World Stadium on Monday for this year’s Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
Iowa and Tennessee will meet up for the bowl game on Monday, January 1, at 1 p.m. at the stadium, which is located at 1 Citrus Bowl Place near downtown Orlando.
Tennessee is ranked #25 and went 8-4 this year, finishing with a 4-4 record in conference play.
Iowa comes into the game ranked #20, with a 10-3 record. The team finished runner up to Michigan in the Big Ten Championship. Iowa played in the Citrus Bowl just two years ago, losing 20-17 to Kentucky.
The two schools have met three times before, but only once since the 1980s, when Tennessee won 45-28 in the TaxSlayer Bowl.
The seventh-oldest collegiate bowl game in the country, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, began as the Tangerine Bowl in 1947. The initial game sponsors were members of Elks Lodge #1079 in Orlando. The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl hosts the top Big Ten and SEC teams from outside the CFP series of bowls, including Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Cotton, and Peach.
