Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) State Trooper Car

A 61-year-old Orlando woman was killed after she was struck by a car while crossing a roadway in Orange County on Friday night.

The fatal accident occurred at around 9:35 p.m. on Friday, April 19, near the intersection of W Colonial Drive and Dorscher Road.

According to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2008 Mercedes C300 was traveling eastbound on W Colonial Drive, to the east of Dorscher Road, in the center lane.

At the same time, the 61-year-old woman was walking in a northerly direction when she entered the eastbound lanes of W Colonial Drive. A trooper noted in the report that she was not in a marked crosswalk.

FHP stated that while walking on the roadway, the woman stepped directly into the path of the car. As a result, she was struck by the front section of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her name was not released by FHP.

The two occupants of the car – a 29-year-old woman (driver) and 24-year-old woman (passenger), both from Orlando – were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
