Update: The pilot injured in the crash has been identified as Heinz Gustav Peier, 75, of Ormond Beach.
A pilot was injured on Thursday afternoon after their small plane crashed in DeLand.
Shortly after 2 p.m., the twin-engine Admore Aircam crashed in a field off Eidson Drive, near Highway 11, according to Federal Aviation Administration officials.
The DeLand Fire Department received a call at around 2:05 p.m. regarding the plane crash, and crews rushed to the scene.
The pilot was the sole occupant on board the plane, and they were airlifted to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
No further details were provided regarding the pilot’s identity or the extent of their injuries.
The DeLand Police Department is currently blocking Eidson Drive near the site of the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration also arrived on scene and is investigating the cause of the crash.
