Thor, the SUV owner’s service dog, was inside the vehicle when it was stolen on May 1, 2024.

In a social media post on Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office stated that its detectives were doing everything possible to locate the SUV and bring Thor back safe.

Later that afternoon, an Orange County citizen found a dog wandering around an apartment complex. After seeing the social media post from OCSO, the citizen contacted the sheriff’s office, and Thor was reunited with his grateful owner.

The following day, the OCSO auto theft unit spotted the stolen SUV, and a suspect – identified as Emily Rose Modjeski – was arrested.

No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office.

Modjeski was transported to Orange County Jail, where she is currently being held without bond. She is being charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and violation of probation, according to jail records.
