A man from Clermont was killed, and another driver was seriously injured, in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Lake County on Wednesday morning.
The fatal accident took place on Schofield Road, west of the Five Mile Road intersection, at around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8.
According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident involved a 2018 Nissan Maxima and 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
FHP stated that the Nissan’s driver, a 52-year-old Clermont man, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other driver involved in the accident, a 39-year-old Orlando man, was airlifted to the Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
No further details were provided by FHP regarding the cause of the two-vehicle accident.
Troopers are at the scene of the crash, and a roadblock is currently in place on Schofield Road.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
