A Winter Haven man has claimed a $1 million prize from a Florida Lottery scratch-off ticket that he purchased at a local Publix.
On Friday, May 17, 53-year-old Carlos Cole, Sr. visited the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee to collect the $1 million top prize from the SEVEN FIGURES scratch-off game.
Cole chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $695,000.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Publix located at 6031 Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven. The supermarket received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
The SEVEN FIGURES scratch-off is a $5 game that features a top prize of $1 million. This money-themed ticket offers nearly $80 million in total cash prizes, and the game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-3.77, according to lottery officials.
