The Ocoee Police Department is investigating a fiery crash that claimed the life of two people early Saturday morning.
The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred at around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, at the intersection of Ocoee Apopka Road and Summershade Drive, which is near the Forest Brooke Estates neighborhood.
According to OPD, a silver sedan had left the roadway and struck a tree before colliding with a brick wall at the intersection. When officers arrived on scene, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The Ocoee Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene of the crash and extinguished the fire.
Two people were found deceased inside the vehicle. According to police, the occupants have been identified as 22-year-old Alexis Craig of Apopka (driver) and 30-year-old Andre Johnson of Orlando (passenger).
No further details were provided by Ocoee police regarding the accident.
In a media release on Monday afternoon, OPD stated that its Homicide Unit is actively investigating the cause of the crash.
