A 31-year-old man has been indicated for a double murder that occurred three months ago at an illicit after-hours club in Pine Hills.
On March 23, at around 3:35 a.m., Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2700 block of N Pine Hills Road in Orlando in reference to shots being fired in the area.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found two men, identified as 56-year-old Errol Sylvester Irving and 49-year-old Joslyn Michael Gray, who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to OCSO, an investigation into the shooting incident revealed that a man, identified as Christopher Daveian Haynes, had attended a party on March 23 at a tax office that was “being used exclusively to host activities after-hours.”
The sheriff’s office stated that Haynes was at the party to target Gray. When Haynes approached Gray, he allegedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple times.
At the time of the shooting, Irving was standing near Gray, and both victims were shot and killed.
OCSO detectives obtained video footage from the party, and several attendees identified the shooter as Haynes.
A warrant was issued for Haynes’ arrest on April 22, and the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested him a month later in Nashville, Tennessee.
Haynes was transported to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Nashville before being extradited to Orange County.
On Wednesday, June 26, the State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit secured “sufficient evidence” to secure indictments against Haynes for two counts of first-degree murder (with a firearm).
Haynes is currently being held without bond at Orange County Jail.
An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
