A man was killed early Saturday morning after he was struck by a car while crossing Oak Ridge Road in Orange County.

The fatal accident occurred at around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, near the intersection of W Oak Ridge Road and Chancellor Drive in Orlando, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP stated that a 2014 Ford C-Max was traveling westbound on Oak Ridge Road, east of Chancellor Drive, when an adult male pedestrian attempted to cross the westbound lane of Oak Ridge Road.

The man proceeded to step in the direct path of the Ford, and a collision ensued. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

According to FHP, the Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to identify the pedestrian.

The report stated that the Ford’s two occupants – a 23-year-old Edgewood man and 19-year-old Lantana woman – were not injured.

An FHP trooper noted in the report that the crash remains under investigation.
