A 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a car early Wednesday morning while attempting to cross an Orlando roadway.
The fatal crash took place at around 3:55 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, near the intersection of Princeton Street and Silver Star Road.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2018 Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Princeton Street, south of Silver Star Road, in the outside lane.
At the same time, the pedestrian was walking in an easterly direction along the shoulder of Princeton Street when he stepped onto the southbound lane. A trooper noted in the report that the man was not in a marked crosswalk, and he proceeded to walk directly into the path of the car.
The report stated that the pedestrian was struck by the right front side of the car. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 42-year-old Orlando woman, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
