A 78-year-old Kissimmee man was killed on Monday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 4 in Osceola County.
The fatal crash occurred on I-4 westbound, near mile marker 65 (U.S. 192 – W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway), at around 1:40 p.m. on Monday, July 8.
According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a blue 2022 Toyota Corolla was parked on the outside shoulder of the interstate. The car’s hood was raised, and the elderly pedestrian was standing outside of the vehicle.
FHP stated that the pedestrian proceeded to step onto the westbound outside lane of I-4. Moments later, he was struck by an unknown vehicle, and the driver fled from the scene.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No further details were provided by FHP regarding the vehicle or driver involved in the hit-and-run.
