A woman was killed, and a man was critically injured, after a motorcycle crashed into a car that was turning onto International Drive in Orlando on Saturday evening.
The fatal crash occurred at around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, near the intersection of I-Drive and Meadow Bend Loop.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling westbound on Meadow Bend Loop when the driver, a 63-year-old woman from Nevada, attempted to make a left turn onto I-Drive.
At the same time, a 25-year-old Orlando man was heading northbound on I-Drive, approaching the intersection of Meadow Bend Loop, in the center lane. A trooper noted in the report that the man was riding a 2022 Indian Motorcycle.
When the Mitsubishi began turning left onto I-Drive, FHP stated that the car entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front section of the motorcycle proceeded to collide with the driver’s side of the car.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
The motorcyclist was also taken to the same hospital for treatment of critical injuries. No further updates were provided regarding his condition.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
