A 45-year-old Orlando man has been arrested and charged with transferring several properties and a vehicle to prevent the government from seizing the assets.

On Tuesday, July 30, U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the arrest of Christopher Switlyk on an indictment charging him with four counts of removal of property to prevent government seizure.

According to the indictment, in mid-November of 2022, Switlyk allegedly transferred ownership of three real estate properties – located in the 500 block of Shady Place in Daytona Beach (property one), the 100 block of Aleatha Drive in Daytona Beach (property two), and the 2400 block of Victoria Gardens Lane in Tampa (property three) – to obstruct the government from lawfully taking these properties into its custody and control.

In addition, Switlyk also allegedly transferred ownership of a 2022 Tesla Model X in November of 2022 to prevent the government from seizing the vehicle.

The indictment alleges that Switlyk transferred the properties and vehicle “before, during, or after the seizure of property by investigators of the United States Marshals Service.”

This case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service, and it will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ross Roberts.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

If Switlyk is convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in federal prison on each count.
