A couple that initially bonded over their love of romantic comedies recently tied the knot at Orlando International Airport, one year after they first met in person at the facility.
According to MCO, a woman named Kayla was getting “fed up” with online dating when she decided to give it one last shot in February of 2023, near Valentine’s Day. While browsing an online dating application, she spotted a guy named Tommy and decided to “swipe” on him “just for fun.”
Kayla and Tommy both matched on the dating app, and he proceeded to message her first. In a social media post, MCO stated that sparks flew, and Kayla and Tommy both bonded over their similar interests in soccer and rom-coms.
Tommy had been in Orlando “for a while,” but Kayla soon learned that he was from London, and he had to return to the United Kingdom. Despite the long distance, they stayed in touch through numerous voice memos and video calls.
When Tommy’s visa was approved, he flew to Orlando, and he had his first in-person meeting with Kayla at MCO. The airport described the encounter as being “truly magical” and “just like a scene from a rom-com.”
After happily dating for a year, the couple brought their family members and friends to MCO, where they held their wedding ceremony.
The newlyweds are expecting a baby boy in October, and they are eager to start the next chapter of their lives together.
“We are so happy to be part of this journey, and in being a place where people can connect in so many ways,” stated the Orlando International Airport on its Facebook page.
The airport concluded the post with the following message for Kayla and Tommy: “We wish you the most beautiful love story ahead, and may your love continue to soar high.”
