A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder, two months after he allegedly shot and killed another man at an Orlando apartment complex.

On Wednesday, August 7, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced that a suspect, identified as Phillip Karl Prescott, has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, June 7 at Lake Weston Point Apartments.

On that date, OCSO deputies responded to the apartment complex located in the 2300 block of Lake Weston Drive in reference to shots being fired in the area.

When deputies arrived, they located a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

A few days after the shooting, OCSO identified the victim in this case as 60-year-old Ramon Alberto Reynoso Garcia.

Over the next two months, an “active and ongoing” investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s office, which eventually led detectives to identifying Prescott as a murder suspect.

Following his arrest, Prescott was transported to Orange County Jail, where he is currently being held.

No further details were released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office regarding the homicide case or Prescott’s alleged involvement in the shooting.
