OCSO sheriff for day

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is hosting its annual “Day with the Sheriff” essay contest for high school students who are interested in spending a day learning about law enforcement.

The contest runs through Monday September 30 and is open to Orange County students who are enrolled in grades 9 through 12.

Each essay must be 800 to 1,000 words, and it must focus on one of the following prompts:

  • If you were a law enforcement officer, what would you do to increase resources for community policing?
  • What can be done to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community?
  • What does community policing mean to you and how does it benefit the county’s citizens?

To submit an essay, visit the OCSO “Sheriff’s Essay” webpage.

The winner of the essay contest will be announced in early October, and that student will then get to accompany Orange County Sheriff John Mina for an entire workday.
