The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced on Wednesday afternoon that this Friday’s preseason matchup between the Orlando Magic and the New Orleans Pelicans has been canceled due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Milton.
“The safety of our community and fans is our top priority,” reads a statement from the NBA. “As such, the Orlando Magic game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 11 at Kia Center has been canceled.”
According to the Orlando Magic, the game will not be rescheduled. Single game ticket purchasers will receive a fund for the game from their original point of purchase.

“We appreciate your understanding and flexibility while we work through this together,” stated the Orlando Magic in a social media post on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier this week, the Magic kicked off their preseason with a 106-104 loss against the Pelicans in New Orleans.
The Magic are currently in San Antonio for a road game against the Spurs. Tip off is at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Magic will wrap up their preseason the following week at with a home game vs. the Philadelphia 76ers at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 18, at the Kia Center.
Heading into the 2024-25 regular season, the Magic will be featured in multiple nationally televised games. With one of the youngest rosters in the NBA, led by 21-year-old All-Star Paolo Banchero, the Magic are expected to be in contention for one of the Eastern Conference’s top seeds come the playoffs.
On Wednesday, October 23, the Orlando Magic will kick off the regular season with a road game against the Miami Heat.
The first week of the season includes home games against the Brooklyn Nets (Friday, October 25) and Indiana Pacers (Monday, October 28), as well as a nationally televised road game against the Memphis Grizzlies (Saturday, October 26) and a trip to Chicago to face the Bulls (Wednesday, October 30).
The Magic have additional nationally televised games on the following dates:
