A 58-year-old Titusville man was killed on Thursday evening after he was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross Colonial Drive in Orange County.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of E Colonial Drive and 3rd Street at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old man (driver) and 40-year-old woman (passenger), both from Orlando, were traveling eastbound on E Colonial Drive in a 2003 Honda Pilot.

At the same time, the 58-year-old man was walking southbound along Colonial Drive. The report stated that the man was not in a marked crosswalk when he stepped onto the eastbound lanes, directly into the path of the SUV.

As a result, the left front section of the SUV proceeded to strike the pedestrian. He sustained fatal injuries from the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two occupants of the SUV were not injured.

An FHP trooper noted in the report that the fatal crash remains under investigation.
