Tupperware Brands Corporation has announced that it will cease operations at its Orlando headquarters and lay off more than 140 employees by the end of the year.

In a letter dated November 1, 2024, Tupperware Brands stated that it will be permanently closing its facility located at 14901 S Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing with the Florida Department of Commerce.

The company mentioned in the letter that a total of 145 employees at the Orlando facility will be affected by this closure.

“A purchaser is expected to enter into an agreement to purchase certain assets of (ours),” stated Tupperware Brands. The company added that the “purchasing entity” may extend offers of employment to certain employees currently working at the facility, though “details relating to such offers are not known at this time.”

For most of the affected employees at the Tupperware facility, layoffs will be effective on December 31, 2024. However, the company stated that certain employees may be needed for a longer period of time to “provide transition or wind down services.”

According to Tupperware, none of the affected employees have bumping rights, and they are not represented by a union.

Founded in 1946, Tupperware is an American company that manufactures and internationally distributes plastic food storage containers for the kitchen and home.
