An 18-year-old Winter Springs man accused of flashing a firearm at passing vehicles was arrested following a several-hour standoff with police at a local residence.

According to the Winter Springs Police Department, officers responded to the 400 block of Murphy Road at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, in reference to an individual threatening motorists in the area with a weapon.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed a man outside – later identified as Eybi Acevedo – who appeared to be armed.

Acevedo quickly ran into a nearby home and refused to come out. Officers spent the next several hours negotiating with Acevedo, and they eventually managed to convince him to exit the residence.

After Acevedo was detained in handcuffs, officers searched his home and allegedly found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, HK-15 long rifle, and numerous gun parts including a silence and laser.
